PORTELA 2017

This enredo was a poetic and majestic tribute to the rivers of the world and their fundamental role in the development of human civilizations. It explored the myths, legends, and life-giving power of great rivers like the Nile, the Ganges, and the Mississippi, while centering the narrative on the "Blue and White River" of Portela itself. 

The parade journeyed through the spiritual and cultural dimensions of fresh water, honoring the deities and creatures that inhabit these flowing worlds. It addressed the ecological importance of river preservation and celebrated the constant movement and renewal that rivers represent, paralleling the school’s own long and flowing history. 

Visually, the school used its signature blue and white colors to create a stunning "liquid" aesthetic on the avenue, with flowing fabrics and shimmering materials. The enredo served as a powerful metaphor for the school's resilience and its ability to "flood" the heart of the audience with emotion and traditional samba. 

Result: 1st Place (Champion). 

Trivia: This victory ended a 33-year championship drought for Portela, making it one of the most emotional celebrations in the history of the Madureira neighborhood.
