This enredo was a poetic and slightly satirical exploration of the power of dreams and the human desire for a better life, particularly during times of economic hardship. It celebrated the "fantasies" of the common man, from the simple dream of a good meal to the grand, surreal imaginations of flying or living in a world of pure magic.
The theme explored how dreaming is a form of resistance and escape, allowing people to transcend the difficulties of reality. It utilized surrealist imagery and lighthearted storytelling to show that while dreaming might be "free," the reality of achieving those dreams often carries a high cost in a society plagued by crisis.
The samba-enredo became one of the most popular in history, with its catchy and relatable chorus being sung by everyone in the Sambadrome. The parade was a colorful and imaginative display that encouraged the audience to keep dreaming, positioning the carnival itself as the ultimate shared dream of the Brazilian people.
Result: 2nd Place (Vice-Champion).
Trivia: Despite losing the title to Estácio de Sá, this samba-enredo became a massive radio hit and is still considered by many fans to be the "true" winner of that year's carnival.
