About

This enredo celebrated the 500th anniversary of the discovery of the sea route to India and the vast cultural exchanges that followed. It focused on the Portuguese maritime expeditions, the spice trade, and the eventual "turning" of the world as different cultures from Europe, Africa, and the East met and influenced one another.

The parade was a grand, imaginative journey through history, depicting the bravery of the navigators and the exotic lands they encountered. It explored how the world became interconnected through these voyages, leading to the fusion of global traditions that eventually helped shape the unique identity of Brazil.

Visually, the school used its creative flair to depict massive caravels, mythical sea creatures, and the luxury of the Eastern courts. It was a sophisticated and high-tech presentation that highlighted the courage of explorers and the transformative power of cultural meetings on a global scale.

Result: 1st Place (Champion).

Trivia: This was the first year that the legendary carnival designer Renato Lage worked for Mocidade, introducing a "hi-tech" and futuristic aesthetic that would define the school for the next decade.
