This enredo told the life story of Luís Carlos Prestes, one of the most significant and controversial political figures in 20th-century Brazil. It followed his journey as a revolutionary leader, from the famous "Prestes Column" march through the Brazilian interior to his ideological battles and exile.
The parade framed Prestes as a "Knight of Hope," a symbol of the struggle for social justice and the defense of the marginalized. It explored the various historical periods he lived through, using the spectacle of carnival to narrate his quest for a more egalitarian society.
Grande Rio used a mix of historical realism and symbolic allegories to depict the triumphs and tragedies of his life. It was a bold political theme that sparked conversation about the intersection of history, politics, and popular art on the avenue.
Result: 8th Place.
Trivia: The school faced criticism and pressure from conservative sectors for choosing a communist leader as the theme for their parade.
