This enredo told the powerful story of Queen Agotime of Dahomey (modern-day Benin), who was sold into slavery and brought to Brazil, where she became known as Maria Mineira Naê. The theme followed her journey from royalty to slavery and her eventual spiritual return to her roots through the foundation of the Casa das Minas in Maranhão.
The parade was a narrative of resilience, faith, and the survival of African culture in the New World. It depicted the court of Dahomey, the horrors of the Middle Passage, and the syncretism of religious practices in Brazil. The school used the story to highlight the strength of black women and the enduring connection between Brazil and the African continent.
Visually, the school used earthy tones and African patterns to create a somber yet regal atmosphere. The enredo was praised for its historical depth and emotional resonance, as it reclaimed a piece of forgotten history and celebrated the spiritual legacy of the African diaspora in Brazil.
Result: 2nd Place (Vice-Champion).
Trivia: The samba-enredo for this year is considered one of the greatest of the 21st century, often cited for its beautiful melody and profound lyrics.
