ESTÁCIO DE SÁ 1987

This lighthearted and immensely popular enredo told the story of the sapodilla fruit (sapoti) and its connection to the creation of chewing gum. It traced the fruit's journey from the Americas to the rest of the world, focusing on its discovery and its subsequent transformation into a global consumer product. 

The parade was a fun and colorful exploration of Mexican history and the commercial success of the fruit. It used a playful aesthetic to engage the audience, making a seemingly simple agricultural subject into a grand and entertaining spectacle that everyone could enjoy. 

The narrative highlighted the "ti-ti-ti" (the chatter or fuss) caused by the arrival of this sweet treat in Brazil. It was a perfect example of how Estácio de Sá could take a non-traditional theme and turn it into a vibrant, high-energy carnival performance that became a massive public hit. 

Result: 4th Place. 

Trivia: The chorus of this samba-enredo is widely considered one of the catchiest and most famous in the history of the Rio Carnival.
