​Imperatriz Leopoldinense is the epitome of technical perfection and elegance in the Rio Carnival circuit, representing the neighborhood of Ramos.

 

Founded in 1959 and named after the first Empress of Brazil, the school is famous for its sophisticated aesthetics and its historic "Golden Age" in the 1990s and early 2000s under the creative direction of carnavalesco Rosa Magalhães. Clad in its regal colors of green, white, and gold, Imperatriz is often referred to as the "certinha" (the "correct one") because of its legendary discipline in parade categories like harmony and evolution.

 

After a period of decline, the school saw a spectacular resurgence, winning the 2023 championship with a whimsical and culturally rich narrative about the folk hero Lampião, proving that its legacy of scholarly storytelling and visual refinement remains as powerful as ever.
